FACIALS, MASKS , PEELS
EXPLAINED

Facials, masks, and peels are all skincare treatments, but they serve different purposes and have distinct methods of application and effects on the skin.

Our clinicians are highly knowledgeable, trained and skilled in these procedures.

Here's a breakdown of the differences between them:

Facials:

  • Purpose: A facial is a comprehensive skincare treatment that typically includes cleansing, exfoliation, extraction (if necessary), massage, and the application of masks, serums, or moisturizers. The goal is to clean, hydrate, and rejuvenate the skin.

  • Process: A facial usually involves multiple steps and may include steam, massage, and the use of various products tailored to your skin type and concerns.

  • Effects: Facials are great for general skin maintenance, improving circulation, reducing stress, and addressing specific skin issues like acne, dryness, or aging. They are typically more relaxing and holistic.

  • Frequency: Facials are often recommended every 4-6 weeks, depending on skin type and concerns.

Masks:

  • Purpose: Masks are skincare treatments designed to target specific skin concerns, such as hydration, detoxification, or soothing. They can provide a concentrated dose of active ingredients to the skin.

  • Process: Masks are usually applied to the face and left on for a set period (usually 10-20 minutes) before being rinsed off or peeled away. They can be made of clay, gel, cream, sheet, or other materials.

  • Effects: Masks can provide immediate results, such as brightening the skin, calming irritation, or drawing out impurities. They are often used as a quick pick-me-up or to address specific issues.

  • Frequency: Depending on the type and purpose, masks can be used once a week or more frequently for certain skin concerns.

Peels:

  • Purpose: Peels are exfoliating treatments designed to remove dead skin cells and stimulate the renewal of skin cells. They aim to improve skin texture, tone, and clarity.

  • Process: Peels involve the application of a chemical solution, usually containing acids (like glycolic, lactic, or salicylic acid), that causes the outer layer of skin to exfoliate and eventually peel off. This reveals fresher, smoother skin underneath.

  • Effects: Peels can be mild to intense, depending on the depth and type of peel. They can reduce fine lines, acne scars, hyperpigmentation, and other imperfections. However, they can cause redness and peeling in the days following treatment.

  • Frequency: The frequency of peels varies widely based on their strength. Light peels might be done monthly, while medium or deep peels may only be done a few times a year under professional supervision.

Summary:

  • Facials are all-encompassing treatments for overall skin health and relaxation.

  • Masks are focused treatments for specific skin concerns, offering immediate results.

  • Peels are exfoliating treatments aimed at improving skin texture and appearance through the removal of the outer skin layer.
